Water Reclamation System: Pioneering Sustainable Water Management

Pioneering Sustainable Water Management

WHA Group is leading the position in sustainable water management with its advanced water reclamation systems, designed to provide an alternative water source, particularly in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). This initiative highlights our commitment to environmental stewardship and showcases our innovative approach to resource management.

Our water reclamation project seamlessly integrates advanced technologies with innovative practices to transform wastewater into valuable resources. By utilizing treated wastewater from our systems, we produce demineralized water and premium clarified water. In 2023, this project generated substantial revenue of 232.4 million Baht, representing 15.9% of our total revenue and share of profit from utility business. This achievement underscores the financial viability and environmental significance of our sustainability efforts.

Environmental Impact and Benefits

Through this project, WHA Group has successfully reclaimed up to 7.3 million cubic meters of water, significantly reducing our reliance on natural water sources with amount not less than reclaimed amount. This reclaimed water constituted 9.5% of our total water usage in 2023. Specifically, our initiatives to produce reclaimed water for customers and for internal use included:

  • Petrochemical Customers: Reclaimed water reduced dependence by 2,500,000 cubic meters.
  • Power Plant Customers: Reclaimed water reduced dependence by 3,400,000 cubic meters.
  • Internal Use: Reclaimed water reduced dependence within WHA Group’s operations by 1,300,000 cubic meters.

The environmental and societal benefits of our water reclamation systems are substantial, including:

  • Reduction in Wastewater Discharge: Minimizing the environmental impact of wastewater.
  • Conservation of Natural Water Sources: Reducing the extraction of water from natural reserves.
  • Community Impact: Mitigating potential conflicts with nearby communities over shared water resources.

WHA Group's water reclamation systems exemplify our dedication to sustainable development and innovative resource management. By reducing wastewater discharge, conserving natural water sources, and fostering community harmony, we are making a significant positive impact on both the environment and society. Our efforts in water reclamation not only support our business goals but also contribute positively to the environment and communities. As we continue to innovate and expand our sustainability initiatives, we remain committed to making a lasting difference in resource conservation and environmental protection.
