WHA Group Helps Local Communities Stay Strong and Resilient

May was a busy month for WHA Group in terms of community service, as teams reached out to various villages whose members have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.  WHA Group and its different business hubs extended their assistance in various ways:  supporting the youth by promoting mental and physical health; delivering supplies and necessities to local hospitals; and bringing care packages and hosting activities for the elderly to bring them happiness and a sense of belonging.

Young people’s health and wellbeing

The Baan Mab Kla School in Ban Bueng, Chonburi, welcomed representatives from WHA Industrial Development (WHA ID) and WHA Utilities & Power (WHAUP). They visited the campus to bring donations to help improve the school’s facilities that could make the learning experience richer and more fun for the children.  Activities were held to inspire creativity and confidence, so the students can express their ideas and develop their skills and talents.

WHA also donated funds for the Child Development Project in the subdistrict of Khao Khan Song, in Sri Racha, Chonburi. Local government officials received the contribution for the purchase of sportswear and sports equipment, so children in the rural areas can enjoy outdoor activities safely despite the pandemic.

Helping hospitals provide better service

Looking after the health of the people is an important part of WHA’s CSR program, especially during these challenging times. WHA delivered medical supplies to Pluak Daeng Hospital and Baan Khai Hospital, both located in Rayong province, to prevent the spread of the COVID virus. The donation included alcohol-based sanitizers, face masks and face shields.

In addition, drinking water was also provided for community members who come to these locations for their COVID vaccinations.

Cases of disposable medical gloves were sent to Pluak Daeng Hospital for the use of medical and health care personnel to reduce the risk of contamination.

Reforestation for a Greener Environment

Volunteers from WHA ID and WHAUP recently visited the Baan Mo Mui Reservoir in Rayong. They planted trees in the area to help the water cycle and lessen hostile environmental conditions resulting from drought, to ensure that there will be enough water to feed the reservoir sustainably.  Reforestation efforts are important because trees are among the biggest contributors to the water supply ecosystem.

Building a healthy, inclusive society

Preserving the culture of a society is an important part of a happy, healthy community. Traditions, passed down from generation to generation, require an active effort in order to value and safeguard them.

One of the most important religious holidays in the country is Visakha Bucha Day, marking the birthday of Buddha. To celebrate this auspicious day, WHA sponsored merit-making activities that included the distribution of care packages to families that lost their source of income during the lockdown, and individuals who lost their jobs due to the pandemic.

WHA ID and WHAUP also showed their support for the Thai Siam Post Newspaper that recently celebrated its 12th anniversary.  Company representatives went to Sri Racha, Chonburi, to congratulate the publication’s editorial section for their successful years of being a reliable news source for the community.  A cash donation was handed to support the newspaper’s “Do Good for Society” campaign which helps the people affected by the pandemic.

WHA ID teamed up with WHAUP to deliver care packages for the elderly of Khao Kong Song district, in Sri Racha, Chonburi.  They joined health volunteers and local administrative office staff during the visit to elderly residents in their homes located in the vicinity of the Ban Surasak Market.

Another charitable activity was held by WHA ID and WHA UP to establish a caring connection with the elderly in Khlong Kaew district, Ban Bueng, Chonburi.  The companies handed over a donation and distributed care packages to the residents. It was a happy occasion for the seniors who enjoyed cultural, religious and mentally stimulating activities that brought them joy and made them feel part of the community.
